The global coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) will impact on us all to a certain degree. SH&P is committed to maintaining the health and welfare of its staff and to minimising any disruption of our services. The UK Government has moved from a state of containment to one of delay. Its official approach and guidance to individuals and businesses will evolve rapidly over the coming weeks. SH&P will be following this advice and is also taking its own measures to mitigate the effect of the virus on our staff and clients alike.Click here for more Information
After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cardiff University in 1992, Robin began his career as a patent and trade mark searcher. Originally from London, Robin relocated to Bristol in 1998 whilst working at another patent and trade mark attorney firm, before joining SH&P in 2003. Robin qualified as a trade mark attorney in 2004 and continues to represent a wide variety of clients ranging from individual entrepreneurs to multinational conglomerates.
In his role as Trade Mark Attorney Robin delivers a very friendly and engaging approach to all of the clients he advises, making sure to take great interest in and fully understand the business of the client and to offer sensible and pragmatic advice, often going the “extra mile” along the way. Robin prides himself in providing clear, jargon-free advice to all clients and not least in response to new trade mark enquiries that the firm regularly receives.
In his day-to-day work Robin advises on and conducts UK and global trade mark filing programmes, trade mark clearance searches, handling contentious matters (including trade mark opposition and cancellation actions before the UK and European Intellectual Property Offices), conducting dispute negotiations between parties, drafting of settlement agreements and assignment documents, as well as handling domain name disputes. For the last 5 years Robin has played a key role in acting for some of the firm’s biggest clients and has particular expertise in the clothing industries, where he is the lead adviser for some very well-known sportswear and high street fashion brands.
Over the years Robin has been heavily involved in the firm’s marketing activities and has participated in International Trade Mark Association (“INTA”) meetings abroad as well as attending and speaking at business shows and trade exhibitions in the UK on behalf of SH&P. Robin also plays a key role in the firm’s online presence, including the various iterations of the SH&P website and the firm’s social media presence.
Outside of work, Robin is an avid supporter of a certain red and white football club from North London and also enjoys art, music and running, although trying to keep pace with his greyhound dog has proved challenging.
